Have you joined the Dollar General Store diet bandwagon yet?
You haven’t heard of it?
Well, I haven’t either. But, my husband feels it’s going to be the next big thing and he’s set out to make it the next fad diet.
According to the dictionary, a fad diet is “a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. Fad diets are targeted at people who want to lose weight quickly without exercise. Some fad diets claim that they make you lose fat, but it’s really water weight you’re losing.”
Like the cabbage, water, soup, shake diets, it’s a diet that eliminates certain foods to lose weight. Remember the Adkins diet? Remember the South Beach diet? Do you know anyone that has been able to lose weight on fad diets and keep the weight off?
Well, as all of you know, I’m looking into finding a weight-loss plan that’s right for me. I not looking for a fad diet. I’m looking for something that is well-rounded, healthy, and includes a balance of all food groups without a lot of restrictions. My husband, has a different idea of what a diet should be.
He set out to make a point- to me or himself, I’m not sure. His point, just by cutting back on anything that you eat-whether healthy or not, you will still lose weight. This is, of course true to some extent, but losing it and keeping it off is what’s important to me.
So, he’s been buying his food at the Dollar General Store. He eats meals such as Bumble Bee Buffalo Style Chicken salad kit, tuna salad kits, frozen burritos, mixed nuts, beanee weenees, popcorn, and processed packaged meals. On top of that, he drinks approximately six diet sodas a day. For breakfast, he grills some meat – breaded and non-breaded- chicken, steak, sausages, etc. He doesn’t eat vegetables or fruits. He doesn’t drink milk, juices or anything other than soda and water. Oh, and as a plus- he gets a $5 off coupon for his next purchase.
He’s been doing it for about four weeks and has lost over 25 lbs. His diabetes is finally under control and is now considered to be low. So, who am I to question his methods?
I’ve been watching what I’ve been eating, exercising, drinking lots of water and only lost 15 lbs. It’s frustrating. I know men lose faster than women, but there are no words to describe the frustration.
My pockets of fat loves me. It doesn’t want to leave. Besides, it makes me a comfortable pillow on those cold nights. So, maybe I’ll just keep my cushiony belly and my jiggly rump and not worry about it. But, I’ll push forward and try to make my own point. Once I figure out what that point will be, I’ll let you know.
So, are you joining the Dollar General Diet?
What are your thoughts?
