The Maple Tree Cancer Alliance will be hosting a Rise and Shine empowering fundraising brunch on October 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kumar Conference room at the Soin Medical Center.

There is more to cancer than just beating it. It’s a change of lifestyle for the rest of the cancer survivor’s life. But, what is a person to do before, during and after a cancer diagnosis? This informational fundraiser will help provide that information.

Barbara Strady, Partner and Attorney at Casper & Casper will be a guest speaker during this event. “Most post-cancer survivors have no place to go for nutrition, exercise and legal help,” Strady said. “Cancer survivors cannot go to their regular gym because of germs. I’ll be there to inform patients on what to do when diagnosed.”

Dr. Karen Wonders formed The Maple Tree Cancer Alliance because of her passion to study the benefits that healthy nutrition, exercise and positive support has on cancer. Her organization’s main goal is to improve the quality of life while and after being afflicted with cancer.

The event will help the organization raise the needed money for cancer research, advocacy programs and services, and educational programs. It will offer suggestions on creating healthy dishes, chair massages, cooking demonstrations, chair yoga, image consultations, journaling, experts and a silent auction. There will also be attorneys on hand to assist with legal forms, power of attorneys, and more.

RSVP by October 7, 2017 by visiting Maple Tree Cancer Alliance’s website and reserve your spot today. Cost: $50 a ticket.
