Behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil- OVO

Sitting here at the dress rehearsal of this fantastic show is amazing. The crew arrived in the Cincinnati Bank Arena on Monday and spent over 15 hours setting up the stage and backstage. There are hundreds of hands and performers from all over the world, from all walks of life. Some, like the tight rope performer were born into the circus and come from a long line of circus performers.

With each balancing act, I’m not only impressed, but also amazed on how a human body can achieve so much and endure beyond limitations. The amazment doesnt just apply to the performers but also the set up and tear down men and women. What incredible shape they are all in. Makes me want to hit the gym after this.

Looking around the Bank Arena for this show, there is not a bad seat in the place. So no matter if you have seats close to the stage or up top, the view will be amazing. There shouldnt be anything to block your view.

The performers, for the most part, practice onstage in pure silence and intense concentration. Each interchange between the props, mind, body and soul makes the biggest difference in the performance. From tight frame, pointed feet, direction of landings, it all matters and these performers have to get it right during each and every performance.

Everyone on this tour just finished a long holiday, so be ready to enjoy their fresh attitide, spirit and renewed love for what they do. Not many of us have the luxury to absolutely love our work and are willing to share that love with the world- literally.

This tour is called Ovo-which means, bugs. That’s right. This stage will be transformed into the secret world of creepy crawlers, slithery bodies and maybe even some beautiful butterflies. It will leave Cincinnati looking at bugs in a different light.

If you’ve seen Ovo before, no worries, this show will be new and fresh to you too.
