Wow, is all I can say about this little treasure of a restaurant/bar that we found while walking on the beach in Treasure Island, Florida. Yes, I know it’s not in Ohio, but everyone has to hit the road at times.
It’s that time of year where everyone packs up the bathing suits, beach towels and everything summery and heads for what they believe to be Heaven. Where is your Heaven? Mine is unusually Lake Erie. If you know me, you would know that Florida is my least favorite place. It’s too hot. It’s too crowded. It’s too commercialized. But, last October my husband and I went and I have to admit – it was perfect.
In October, it was refreshing. It wasn’t too hot. It wasn’t too crowded. It was still commercialized, but bareable. The bugs were gone, the beaches were sparse, the weather pleasant and my skin as as white as snow and I step outside in my shorts and layers of sunscreen.
In the mist of my new Heaven, with white sand sliding between my toes and blue crashing waves slapping my ankles, we found this charming (I know, touristy-right?) We had girly mixed drinks in colored changing glasses and snacked on on nachos that were piled high with meat, cheese, tomatoes, onions and sour cream, salads and a pretzel. It’s a great way to people watch or just daydream in the waves.
Caddy’s also offers breakfast for the ones that get up early, even while on vacation.
***TIP: It’s best to travel to Caddy’s by foot because they don’t have much parking and it fills up quick.
