Season One of I Love Dick was released on Amazon Prime this weekend. It’s from a book written by Chris Kraus about married artists entangled in a love affair with another artist by the name of Dick, while attending a retreat.
It’s a really weird, twisted, and sexual story told by the wife, Chris- played by Kathryn Hahn, who becomes obsessed with Dick. Kevin Bacon plays Dick, besides being an artist is also a rancher in Texas. Chris’ husband, Sylvere – played by Griffin Dunne, gets off on watching and experiencing his wife’s obsession- causing the couple to have wild and crazy sex. But, when Chris sends Dick a series of letters she has written to him about her sexual fantasies of him, things take a turn.
Not only is this couple erratic, the other characters in the story are equally unique and strange.
If you are thinking this series is a comedy like Big Bang Theory or Mom, this is not going to do it for you. At one point, Kevin Bacon, in the middle of nowhere starts shaving a sheep, in one of these daydreams of Chris’. The whole show is just very awkward.
Some may really love it – might even say that they LOVE DICK, while other might find it very strange.
